Pseudo-ribbon corset

Historic background

This corsets looks almost exactly like an Edwardian ribbon corset but it is made of cut pieces instead of ribbons. This altered construction makes the corset more supporting and sturdy.

Style

The corset tightens the waist but leaves breasts and hips uncovered. This style is excellent for a person who wants a comfortable corset to be worn under normal clothes. When made of more decorative fabric, the corset can also be worn as a part of a costume or an evening dress. As the top layer of the pseudo-ribbon corset has 26 cut pieces, the style can be easily made with more than one colour.

Materials

The corset in the photos has been made of strong cotton twill, but other materials are of course also possible. We prefer to use spiral boning in this corset.

Details

In the corset in the photos, individual hooks and eyes have been used. However, we recommend ordering the corset with a front busk. Front lacing is also possible but it makes the corset much more difficult to dress and undress.

Price

The pseudo-ribbon corset, as seen in the photos of this page but with a front busk, would cost 670 €.

The prices on this page are price examples and are valid only when both the material and the design of the garment ordered are exactly same as shown here. Depending on the materials and details chosen, the price of an ordered custom garment can be either more or less than the prices above. Please request an estimate.
